Threat to Israel: Hamas: Not Partners of Peace

Nadene Goldfoot
Hamas Terrorist in uniform

As President Obama is gearing up to start another round of peace talks between the Palestinian Arabs and Israel, let me remind him that he is trying to make peace between Israel's closest threat to her, the terrorist group of Hamas who have taken over Gaza.  The problem is that Hamas has influence over Judea and Samaria's political leader, Abbas.

Fatah and Hamas, on and off rivals,  joined together in 2011.  Here's Hamas' leader in Gaza,
Ismail Haniyeh right in the front row.
They had joined together to create a Palestine, remember?

Hamas is a designated terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.  It is an immediate, ongoing threat to Israel and its citizens.  It would be lovely if a miracle happened after these 68 years and they decided not to follow their life time swearing of never making peace.  Indications are that they are as adamant as ever in not pursuing such a peace.  Even President Rivlin has said that now is not the time.

More Hamas Terrorists
Since 2007, they have started 3 wars with Israel.
This is because the group is constructing an enormous infrastructure with which to attack Israeli communities, including a broad network of terror tunnels that are rebuilt with funds diverted from international humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians.  This means that 7.6 million Israelis are now within range of about 10,000 Hamas rockets.

Morsi and Obama were tight.
These terrorists founded Hamas in 1987 as an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.  This is the group that had taken over Egypt temporarily with Morsi as its President who their General  Sisi finally ousted at the USA's President Obama's objections.

Later talks in Cairo with John Kerry.
He was defending the Muslim Brotherhood a 2nd time, as he also showed favoritism to them when he first spoke in Cairo and wanted them in the front seats of the auditorium. At the time they were being blackballed by Egypt.  Morsi was a high-ranking Muslim Brotherhood leader. The Muslim Brotherhood is all for wiping Israel off the map and killing Jews.

Hamas Unit Right  on Israel's Doorstep
Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) rules the Gaza Strip and wants Israel destroyed.  Since 1987 they have murdered more than 500 Israeli civilians.  Since 2007, when the group violently overtook the Gaza Strip, it has started 3 wars with Israel.  They get money and arms from Iran, who also wants Israel destroyed; not made peace with but completely destroyed into oblivion.  There are other smaller jihadist militant organizations in Gaza.  One is the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Islamic State called ISIS.

To show their interest in peace, Hamas builds attack tunnels, so why does Obama think they will come to a peace table  and be sincere about it?  In the last war with them in 2014, Israel found and destroyed 32 Hamas tunnels which were going right into Israel from Gaza.  The Hamas terrorists' aim was to kidnap and kill Israelis.  Here they now are, 1,000 Hamas men are rebuilding the attack tunnel network, diverting materials provided by the international community to rebuild Gaza's home and civilian infrastructure for postwar progress.  The Israelis living near Gaza have reported hearing digging sounds beneath their communities.

Why dig tunnels?  Last year Israel prevented almost 1,000 Hamas smuggling operations to import weapons and other illicit materials into Gaza that could be used for bomb making.  The  contraband included rocket components, explosives, rocket fuel, drones and banned dual-use items.

Also, scuba diving equipment was confiscated that would be used for sea attacks.  This shows that Hamas' continued investment in naval infiltration operations  are going on against Israel.

Two years ago in 2014, Hamas and Israel were at war and 4 Hamas divers attempted to perpetrate terror attacks at Israel's Zikim Beach.  Since Operation Protective Edge, Hamas has doubled the size of its naval commando force.

Long-range rockets hitting Israel
Since 2001, which is only 15 years ago, terrorist groups from Gaza have fired more than 17,000 rockets into Israel.  Israel protects itself with their invention of the Iron Dome rocket defense system, but it cannot totally eliminate the threat.  Just 2 years ago, there were hundreds of rockets and mortar attacks from Gaza.  This included missiles made by using Iranian techniques and included longer-range Iranian rockets.  This forced Israel to launch another defensive operation known as OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE.    More rockets have been fired into Israel since the attack was officially stopped.

Hamas's leader is Ismail Haniyeh.  He would be the one Obama needs to convince that peace is important.  Yet Haniyeh is busy praising the recent violent attack of his men against Israel by his terrorists from Judea and Samaria and east Jerusalem and called for another Intifada in Judea and Samaria.   That's how he answered the EU and Obama's desires of being able to stage another peace initiative.  With WAR!  In this way he's telling Abbas that he cannot sit down to any peace talk as there will be no peace.

Chart showing Palestinian activity against Israel : Hebrew goes from right to left instead of English that goes from left to right.
Israel and the PA of Judea and Samaria, the rulers there, uncovered Hamas cells preparing violent attacks against Israeli civilians and other actions meant to destabilize Judea and Samaria.

PA leader, Abbas
During the 2014 summer war, Israel's internal security service stopped a Hamas coup attempt in Judea and Samaria aimed at overthrowing Abbas and instigating a new round of violence.

Israel and the PA have broken up Hezbollah and other Iranian sponsored terrorist cells in Judea and Samaria.

Remember, Israel is and has been the only Democratic state in the Middle East.  Israel's survival is important to the USA's national interests.  The USA has been the only one to provide annual security assistance for its self-defense against mounting threats across the region. which now includes ISIS.  There has been a 10 year Memorandum of Understanding between these 2 allies.  They also have going between them other cooperative programs including a missile defense and tunnel detection.   Israel is the creator of defense methods both in their own airport and in other ways that they share with other nations.  Right now they might even help Turkey with airport defense due to Turkey's current attack there.  One thing Israel can't do without are resources to buy weapons for protection so they can develop systems needed to respond decisively to threats from Hamas and Hezbollah and a potential nuclear armed Iran.

Congress has been more understanding of this need than our President may have been.  We must insure that this continues.  Israel is the child of the USA who is about to receive their PhD in 6 months after 4 years of hard studying.  We cannot stop our assistance now when Israel is so close to receiving its degree.  One doesn't walk out on their children.  The same with the state of Israel.  The USA cannot come to a point of pulling out its much needed alliance with new senators who might  not see the forest for the trees.  Israel has been self reliant.  She is  not costing the USA with American lives, just money well spent.  Of all the money spent in attacking, here is one place it's used in defense.

If they are concerned about a difference in numbers of lives lost, another reminder is that to Israel, lives are to be defended, but to terrorist groups such as Hamas, lives are there to be used, and have little value.  That's why numbers have been so lop-sided.  Don't blame Israel for keeping their people alive under attacks.  This is a difference in the two value systems.  Israel preaches "TO LIFE" and Hamas and ISIS preach 'TO DEATH' which will get us what we want.

UN Secretary Lacks Moral Compass: Gives Green Light to Terrorism

Nadene Goldfoot
Ban Ki-moon The Secretary-General was born in the Republic of Korea on 13 June 1944. He received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Seoul National University in 1970.  In 1985, he earned a master's degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Eli E. Hertz

How can Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, possibly say that terrorism and incitement is human nature and we see it in reaction to occupation!

This statement is what Eli E. Hertz has now found to be Moon's philosophy. Mr. Hertz "is the president of Myths and Facts, an organization devoted to research and publication of information regarding US interests in the world and particularly in the Middle East. Mr. Hertz served as Chairman of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting."  Evidently Moon cannot stand up to pressure from those countries against Israel's existence.  One needs to have a strong moral compass to combat these countries' ideas of what morality is.  They do not share mine.   Terrorism is not human nature in all people, especially if you have been brought up under Jewish and Christian values.

The UN charter does not go along with this brain-washed idea of his.  It states in the Resolution 1377 of the UN Security Council that it "reaffirms its unequivocal condemnation of all acts, methods and practices of terrorism as criminal and unjustifiable, REGARDLESS OF THEIR MOTIVATION, in all their forms and manifestations, wherever and by whomever committed.

Thomas L. Friedman, author of "From Beirut to Jerusalem" and many others
Even Thomas L. Friedman, a Leftist Democratic thinker if ever there was one, stated back in 2002 in the April 1st New York Times, that "Palestinians are not desperate from Israeli occupation.  Other people in the world are desperate, but they don't go around with dynamite strapped to their body.  PALESTINIANS HAVE ADOPTED SUICIDE BOMBING AS A STRATEGIC CHOICE, NOT OUT OF DESPERATION.   "Thomas Loren Friedman is an American journalist, columnist and author. He has won the Pulitzer Prize three times and currently writes a weekly column for The New York Times."  "Professor Noam Chomsky  accused Friedman of endorsing and encouraging terrorism by Israeli forces.   That shows how off-beat Chomsky is, to say that of a critic of Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu  in many areas.  At least Friedman understands the position Israel finds itself in to exist.  Israel does not practice terrorism.

Israel's administrated areas in 1980 were not typical occupied areas.  Until a peace settlement comes about with the Arabs who call themselves "Palestinians", as they used to be known as Syrian Arabs,  which will determine the political future of the areas, Israel's policy tries to achieve 4 objectives:
1. keep conditions of security for Israelis and Arabs alike.
2. All shall live normal lives without losing contact with Arabs in other countries.
3. Bring about, make possible rapid economic development
4. Encourage co-existence and cooperation between Arabs and Israelis.

This was policy and it was deterred by the Arabs themselves, as they always manage to do so with their leadership.  They have had 2 intefadas, sort of like extreme terrorism/war. Their doctrine is not to accept Israel but to destroy it.  Netanyahu and the government had been for a 2 state solution but the Arabs are not.  Right now with such terroristic acts going on from the Arabs, one cannot justify thinking about a 2 state solution.  It is not logical.  The Arabs are not meeting the goals set to create and accept a new state.  It would be like allowing IS to move in, and that is most likely what would happen.  They are already moving on Gaza.

Look, it took Jews 2,000 years to finally get it together to create Israel again after being forced out by the Romans who had been occupying their nation  and having Jerusalem burned down along with the 2nd Temple in 70 CE.  Finally, May 14, 1948 it came about legally and was accepted into the family of nations by the UN.  Is the UN now trying to end this nation of almost 68 years of age because the Muslim Arabs can't abide the one and only Jewish state here again when they were not even viable states in the past?  Most of the nay-saying neighbors just became states themselves shortly before Israel did except Egypt and Syria.  The Palestinian Arabs were from surrounding lands that came in because they were after jobs with the Jews who were building in Palestine.  No one really was living in Palestine except nomadic Bedouins on their camels and Jews who had never left from 70 CE and those that had been joining them through the ages with the biggest influx coming during the 1880's onward.

Actually, the UN has been going down the tube since the mid-1970s when an Arab-Soviet 3rd World bloc joined to form what amounted to a pro-PLO lobby at the UN, and so very true in the General Assembly where these countries--nearly all dictatorships or autocracies--frequently voted together to pass resolutions attacking Israel and supporting the PLO.  They had the audacity in 1974 to pick Yasir Arafat to address it, and he did with a holster attached to his hip.

Moon uttered this comment only 6 days ago on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 and one of the first to know of it was PM Netanyahu who was furious!  He said that Moon is stoking Palestinian terrorism.

All civilization is threatened by Ban Ki-moon's going along with such a philosophy.  If hijacking and airplane bombing and terrorism such as coming from the terrorists in Gaza and Judea-Samaria, then ISIS terrorism will be  acceptable and  it will be copied and lead to a bomber strapped with a nuclear device threatening all the nations.  The whole world must accept Resolution 1377 unequivocally.  A terrorist is just that;  a terrorist.

France has been hit by terrorism.  Terrorism is happening already in the USA.  The worst of it has been going on in Jerusalem where Arabs are stabbing Jews as they walk by, or ramming crowds of Jews with their automobiles. IS has destroyed Syria and Iraq and is creating their own caliphate.  All countries are on terror alert.  Since December 224, 2015, Israelis have had 100 days of such terrorism going on.   The green light for such behavior has been turned on by Ban Ki-moon.

Update: 2/4/16  http://www.aish.com/jw/me/Ban-Ki-Moon-Gets-it-Wrong-Again.html?s=mm  Excellent article, a must read.  Points out that occupation is not the reason for violence but the fact that Jews live on the land.
"In the infamous Arab pogrom in Hebron in 1929 there was no occupation. In 1948, when seven Arab nations vowed to slay every Jew and conquer every last inch of territory allotted to Israel by the United Nations, there was no occupation. In 1967, Israel did not occupy the West Bank or Judea and Samaria and the Arabs were bent on Israel’s destruction. And when Israel decided to voluntarily cede to Gaza to the Palestinians as a trial first step towards peace, we all know what happened – because of the imaginary and nonexistent “occupation”.

Declared WWII War and Terrorism on Latvia Shtetl Ribinishok and all of Europe

Nadene Goldfoot
The shtetl of Riebini aka Ribinishki in Latvia and wooden house there

Terrorism is now happening in Europe and the USA.  The Nazis of WWII were an organized terrorizing army in a declared war whose aim was to wipe out all Jews.  The USA really did not experience terror until 9/11 when Saudi pilots and their band rammed their plane into a tall building in New York City.  It's been about 76 years since the Nazi terror, and here we are again, preparing to defend our country from another group of terrorists, ISIS from the Middle East.

Occupation during World War II from 1939 to 1945 involved terroristic attacks and atrocities.  When the Germans occupied Latvia in the Balkans, they slaughtered 236 Jews in the village of Ribinishki (Silajani).  This is what Jews all over Europe were facing during those years.  This wasn't a matter of soldiers fighting soldiers and following the rules of war.  It was downright murder of innocent people!

Pale of Settlement where Empress Catherine II caused all Jews to be confined and were kept from entering Russia.  This is why shtetls were so high in Jewish population.  She ruled from 1725 to 1727, but laws kept Jews confined to end of WWI in 1917.
Also called  "Riebini, it is a small town in the Latgale region of Latvia, about 56 km. north of Daugavpils. It was part of Vitebsk gubernia under the Russian Empire."  In 1897 the town was made up of 533 Jews  who were 91% of the population.   By 1935 there were only 317 Jews living there, but that was 68% of the population.  The town had become a village, called a Shtetl.  "In the Shtetl Finder of 1989 it is listed as Ribinishok. "

"The Soviet army occupied Latvia in the summer of 1940. The following year, in June 1941, the Germans invaded the Soviet Union. At least 20 inhabitants of Riebini joined the Red Army to fight the Germans.

Fresh Russian Troops

Following the Russian defeat in July 1941, anti-Soviet Latvians began to round up Jewish residents, especially those with leftist leanings. At the end of August 1941, Latvian civil defense police (Aizsargi) arrived in three trucks to round up the Jews of Riebini.

Members of the 21st Latvian Police Battalion assemble a group of Jewish women for execution on a beach near Liepāja, 15 December 1941.
The Jews were arrested and locked into the synagogues. Then they were moved to Ribinishki Forest (4 km. northwest of Ribinishki) and killed there. There were some local inhabitants living in the Soluions district) who took part in that bloody Aktion from August 23rd to the 25th in 1941;   three days of hell for the Jews to suffer such a death."

One of the Jews killed was Hona Orliyan b: 1909 and died in the 1941 massacre at age 32.  He had 4 siblings, so they were probably all murdered.

The Germans had invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941 and was the turning-point in German policy towards the Jews.  21 months before, at least 30,000 Jews had been killed.  Of these, 10,000 were murdered in individual killings or terror attacks that happened in  street massacres, in punitive reprisals, in outbreaks of savagery in the ghettos, and in the labour camps.  20,000 had died of starvation in the Warsaw and Lodz ghettos.  But in no Jewish community had more than 2 or 3% been murdered.  Jews had been virtually unmolested in Western Europe.

The Russian invasion changed all that, which was called Barbarossa.  Throughout eastern Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Ukraine, White Russia and the western regions of the Russian Republic, the Nazi's new policy was carried out.  It was the systematic destruction of entire Jewish communities.  This happened in land where Jews had been isolated, cursed for the past 200 years, where the region had been Catholic, Russian Orthodox, Ethnically  German and Jewish.

In advance of Barbarossa, the Nazi SS leaders had special killing squads called the Einsatzgruppen, who went about finding collaborators from the Lithuanians and Ukrainians and had them in murder gangs who were very anti-Jewish and held hatred for them, something easy to use to turn them into mass murderers.

Husseini and the Nazis, 1941 Germany

In the very first hours, Jews in Western Europe, Greater Germany, and in German-occupied Poland, saw the German invasion of the Soviet Union as a hopeful sign.  They figured that the Russians would advance and beat the Germans, meaning the end of the war.  They thought victory was certain and the end for Hitler was near.  About 85,000 Jews were living there in 1940.  Russia departed a considerable number of Jews belonging to the wealthy classes or intelligentsia to Northern Russia.

The Germans fooled everyone.  "Don't worry," a Red Army officer told the Jews of Nieswiez as his men withdrew eastwards."   "We'll be back."  The rumor then changed and Jews heard that the Germans would send all the Jews to Madagascar.  That wasn't so bad.

Nazi invasion chasing out Russians who left their tanks in Riga, Latvia 1941

But the slaughter started from the 1st day of the German invasion.  Lithuanians, Latvians and Ukrainian policemen and their auxiliaries, the Einsatzgruppen moved rapidly forward behind the advancing German forces.  Jews were placed alive in anti-tank trenches about 2 km long and killed them with machine guns in the frontier shtetl of Virbalis.  They sprayed lime on the dead Jews and then a 2nd row of Jews were made to lie down, and were then shot.  They did this 6 more times.  Only the children were not shot but were caught by their legs and they hit the children's heads against the stones and then the children were buried alive!

"In Liepāja the first mass killing of Jews took place on July 3 and 4, when about 400 people were shot dead, and on July 8 when 300 Jews were killed. The German group of SD and policemen did the shooting, while the members of Latvian Selbstschutz convoyed victims to the killing site. On July 13 the destroying of the large choral synagogue of Liepāja began. The rolls of the Scripture were spread on the Ugunsdzēsēju Square, and the Jews were forced to march across their sacred things, with watchers merrily laughing at the amusing scene. The above operations took place under the direct leadership of Erhard Grauel, commander of the Einsatzgruppe's Sonderkommando."

After the war, over 30,000 Jeews returned to Latvia but 1/3 of them then emigrated to Israel.  Latvia's population in 1989 was 22,897.

These people were just as bad as any terrorist group out of the Middle East today.  The horror of it all is that Germans were the most advanced society in Europe, yet they had this religious hatred for someone not complying to their way of belief.  Jews were not of their religion and they were successful and intelligent.  So Hitler led the way for practices completely irreligious and hateful-completely against Christianity.  And everyone followed their leadership.

Remember this.  The Germans failed.  Those who were the worst stood trial.  The same will happen to ISIS.  Those against a decent way of living will not be successful.

Terrorists in 1929 Jerusalem Against Jews Praying at the Wall-The Start of Terrorism on Temple Mount

Nadene Goldfoot
The Women's Sector of the Wall, in about 1888

The recent riots on the Temple Mount where Arabs were stabbing Jews is reminiscent of the 1929 riots on the Temple Mount that occurred in late August from the 23rd to the 29th  back then.  In 1929, there had been  long-running arguments between Muslim and Jews over access to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Police ready to stop rioting on Temple Mount
This year it had been over Jews' praying near the Mosque, a mosque that is covering the 2nd Temple of Solomon.

Jews regard the wall as a holy site.  This is because it is a remnant of the ancient wall that once was around the 2nd Temple of Solomon.  It was King Herod who had rebuilt the Temple in Jerusalem on a magnificent scale in later years of his period which ended in 4 BCE, making this the 3rd rebuilding.   The Muslims said they also had deep religious attachments to the wall. They are claiming that the was is part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque which is near the Golden domed mosque, a silver domed one and this is where Mohammad tied his horse, Buraq before he made his night ride to heaven.

Al-Aqsa Mosque, also known as Al-Aqsa and Bayt al-Muqaddas, is the third holiest site in Islam and is located in the Old City of Jerusalem.
"The mosque was originally a small prayer house built by the Rashiduncaliph Umar, but was rebuilt and expanded by the Umayyad caliphAbd al-Malik and finished by his son al-Walid in 705 CE. After an earthquake in 746, the mosque was completely destroyed and rebuilt by the Abbasid caliph al-Mansur in 754, and again rebuilt by his successor al-Mahdi in 780. Another earthquake destroyed most of al-Aqsa in 1033, but two years later the Fatimid caliph Ali az-Zahir built another mosque which has stood to the present day."
The riots were the occasion of Arabs attacking Jews and then destroying the Jewish property.  133 Jews were killed by Arab and 339 others were injured.  110 Arabs were killed and 232 were injured, mostly by the British police who were trying to suppress the riots.  Jews had to flee and leave Jerusalem because of the attacks.

At the time of the mandate,  the wall was placed under Muslim jurisdiction, but Jews tried to pray there.  Violent confrontations occurred when Arab mobs, provoked by Jews who were praying, attacked  two Jewish quarters in Jerusalem and killed Jews.

The Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, as Jews first called it, is part of the wall that surrounded King Herod's Temple which is still standing in the Old City of Jerusalem.  It has nothing to do with Islam.  Herod, King of Judea who got the kingship from Romans, lived from 73 BCE to 4 BCE, way before Muhammad was born in 570 and died in 632 CE.  That's almost 700 years before his time.
Burq, Mohammad's night ride to heaven was on this horse
The only connection Muslims have to the Temple Mount is that Mohammad had a dream where he said he flew on his flying horse to the "farthest mosque, and his followers believe that would have been the 2nd Temple of the Jews.  The Romans were occupying Judea and built a Roman temple over the destroyed 2nd Temple.  Then when Islam was created, Calif Omar built a mosque over the Roman temple in about 638. A century later in about 738, Caliph Abd al-Malik built a beautiful golden domed  mosque over the first one since he said it was a temporary structure.   .  It's also called the Dome of the Rock.  It sits right in the middle of the Temple area (al-Harim ash-Sherif) in Jerusalem.

Since Jews are not allowed to even stand nearby and pray, the only place they are allowed to pray at without being accosted is the Western Wall.  In 1967, Israel won a war against them started by Egypt and Syria.  They won in this huge battle in 6 days.  By doing so, they gained the land Jordan had taken illegally in 1948 which was supposed to go to the Jews.  By being so greedy and joining Israel's other enemies, they lost land their grandfather had helped himself to. East  Jerusalem  and its Old City was thus freed from Jordan and is now incorporated into Israel.  For the first time again, Jews could pray at the Western Wall.

Terrorism started in Palestine with Arabs attacking Jews.  This was just the beginning.  Now terrorism is hitting Europe and the United States and by who?  Muslim extremists who interpret their religion as allowing murder against people not of their own particular beliefs.

Whereas wars in other parts of the world are usually fought over land with the exception of Ireland who has had their own battles and terrorist acts between Catholics and Protestants, these are religious acts of terrorism.  ISIS has combined religion with taking land in creating a Caliphate for themselves.

At any rate, the Brits read the situation carelessly and this is what they concluded:   London sent the first of many royal investigative commissions, the (Walter) Shaw Commission, to Palestine. The commission concludes that the main source of tension is the creation of a landless class of discontented Arabs along with widespread Arab fear that continued Jewish immigration will result in a Jewish dominated Palestine.   Instead of dealing with the Commission’s report, the British decide to send another commission of inquiry to Palestine. They had already told the Jews that Palestine would be the Jewish Homeland back in 1917.

There had always been Arabs-not in any great number-but Arabs living on the land who did not own any land.  There had only been a few landowners.  The many empires that had been dominating the land made it hard to be a landowner.  Arab mostly were nomadic people.  They lived in tents.  Just ask the great author of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain, about who was living in Palestine.  He took a trip to the Holy Land and Egypt, the Crimea, Greece and other points of interest from Brooklyn, New on February 1, 1867 and saw the land before the Russian Jews did, when they made aliyah to Palestine in the 1880's.  Pages 186 and 203 are good examples of what the land looked like.  His camp was attacked by them, very dark-skinned Bedouins with inky black beards, tall, and muscular.  By the time Israel was created on May 14, 1948, Israel had a population of 650,000 Jews.

The land situation of obtaining their ancient land was thought to be settled on January 1919:  That's when Chaim Weizmann pledged that the Jewish community would cooperate with the Arabs in the economic development of Palestine.

In return, Faisal of Syria – the leading Arab personality of the time — recognized the Balfour Declaration of 1917.   He consented to Jewish immigration so long as the rights of Palestinian Arabs were  protected and Arab demands for the independence of Greater Syria are recognized.  Faisal had conditioned his acceptance of the Balfour Declaration on the fulfillment of British wartime promises of independence to the Arabs.  These were not kept.

He had no power except had helped the Brits, just like the Jews did, win WWI.  He supposedly had the respect of the Arabs as a leader.  He had wanted land, too, and wanted to be a king since he missed the chance to be king in Saudi Arabia.  The Brits also promised him land for this.

His nemisis, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was the Sherif of Jerusalem,  the big fish in the little pond. He was the main instigator of terrorism against Jews in Jerusalem and elsewhere in the 1920s.  He didn't want to lose his position.   Arabs have always fought each other for power and they weren't about to allow a Jew or Jews to live on their land, let alone claim it as theirs.  They were oblivious to past history that it had been Jewish land before any Muslim had ever existed.  For the last 400 years it was the holdings of the Ottoman Empire, a Muslim Empire.

Terrorism to a people is a horrible thing.  No one gets used to it.  It should never happen.  No religion should welcome it.
