Peace With Abbas' anti-Semitic Accusation Against Israel ?

Nadene Goldfoot
Representation of a massacre of the Jews in 1349 Antiquitates Flandriae(Royal Library of Belgium manuscript 13076/77)

The 3rd president of the USA is again trying to bring peace between the Palestinians and Israelis and will fail again.  First it was Bill Clinton who tried to force a peace in his last days in office.  Then it was Bush who tried and failed, and now it's Obama in his last days who along with his co-worker, John Kerry, thinks they are capable of making a deal that will satisfy both parties but will fail.

The problem is this:  The Palestinians belong to a terroristic group of Arabs who swore never to make a deal 68 years ago.  They were first led by Arafat who rejected every offer.  Now it's Abbas, his replacement, who does the same.  They must really not be interested in peace, for their main goal seems to be trying to wipe Israel off the map, and indeed, their maps show no Israel at all, and their schools teach this, also.

Even Israeli President Reuven Rivlin has pronounced any peace deal today as currently impossible with a situation of Israel wanting peace and have gone the mile needed for peace, but with the Palestinians now lying about Israel so pronouncedly, that it is a joke.  They are trying to show why they cannot go for peace by accusing Israel's rabbis of calling for the poisoning of Palestinian water supplies, the old accusation going back to the Middle Ages of Jews poisoning the wells.  This is so wild that it makes me choke.  How can one discuss a peace deal with people who think like this?   His people may be ignorant of Jewish history, but I certainly hope that leaders of countries realize where this comes from and the history of anti-Semitism.  Abbas is again trying to bring hatred against Jews, hatred that causes political views to be hated as well against Israel.  He figures that since the world has hated Jews in the past, they will ignore whatever is true about the Palestinians and only remember charges against the Jews, like they have poisoned water of Palestinians.  With their own people, it seems to have worked, since they are being brain-washed against Jews since they enter school, and even before with their parents.

Anti-Semitism was the outgrowth of Christian teaching of hatred for Jews to cause them to convert.  People were taught to hate Jews.  This medieval anti-Jewish prejudice was religious in nature and could generally be obviated by conversion to Christianity.  On the other hand, anti-Semitism has some affinities with the anti-Jewish prejudice in ancient Alexandria and later, against the Marranos in Spain.  Abbas is doing the very same thing, only this goal is to end Israel completely, and one can't make peace with a nation one wants dissolved and destroyed.

We have been accused of all sorts of terrible things, including using human blood in the making of our special bread, matzos.  "When the Black Death raged through Europe (1346–53), the charge was given that the Jews had poisoned the wells.  The only court of appeal that regarded itself as their appointed protector, according to historical conceptions, was the "Holy Roman Emperor."   The emperor, as legal successor to Titus (79-81) , who had acquired the Jews for his special property through the destruction of the Temple in the year 70, claimed the rights of possession and protection over all the Jews in the former Roman empire.  The king at the time of the Black Death was Charles IV, the king of Bohemia, called the German king, born May 14, 1316  in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Similar to accusations made during the Black Plague, Jews were accused of encouraging lepers to poison Christian wells in France. An estimated five thousand Jews were killed before the king, Philip the Tall, admitted the Jews were innocent. Then, Charles IV expelled all French Jews without the one-year period he had promised them, as much of Europe blamed the Black Plague on the Jews and tortured them so they would confess that they poisoned the wells. Despite the pleas of innocence of Pope Clement VI, the accusations resulted in the destruction of over 60 large and 150 small Jewish communities.

Netanyahu has condemned Abbas' incitement saying, "Abbas showed his true colors in Brussels.  Someone who refuses to meet with Israel's President Reuven Rivlin and with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for direct negotiations, and someone who promotes blood libels in the European parliament is lying when he claims his hand is outstretched in peace.

Oh, I know that prejustice develops against countries from the family.  My own Swedish grandmother used to say, 'Oh, those Norwegians!."  That was it.  Her tone of voice showed displeasure towards this rivaling Scandinavian country.  But they were not being used as scapegoats of the world, as Jews have been, someone to pile all the ails of the world upon.  My hope is that everyone is smarter today and realizes that this present accusation of Abbas is showing his true colors and what Israel is up against.  Israel does not have a "normal" situation to deal with in coming to peace terms with another people, because if Abbas has is way, there won't be an Israel.  After 68 years of defending themselves and having been given the OK to be created in the first place by the world politicians, this is not going to happen.

The Golan Heights That Obama and Netanyahu Are Arguing About These Days

Nadene Goldfoot

Overview of UN zone and Syrian controlled territory from the Golan Heights
It's where Syria dropped bombs on Israeli farms below-working to drive out Jews.
This is why it must remain in Israel's hands.
On 19 June 1967, the Israeli cabinet voted to return the Golan to Syria in exchange for a peace agreement, although this was rejected after the Khartoum Resolution of September 1, 1967.
Syria had their chance to get it back peacefully, and instead attacked
Israel in the 1973 War.  That's a double reason to keep it in Israel's hands.

The United States is saying that the Golan Heights are not a part of Israel.  They happen to be in the back yard of Safed, where I lived for over 4 years from 1981-1985.  Netanyahu had "vowed that the Golan Heights "will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty." Israel had finally annexed the Golan Heights in 1981.
                                                                              Location of Golan Heights
Their history goes back to the Bible which is a part of our Jewish history-the most important part.  It begins with Golan, an ancient town of West Bashan.  Bashan was one of the cities of refuge in Israel as found in Joshua 20:8.  It was the capital of a region in the 2nd Temple times, and had a Jewish town until the 5th century CE.  The Golan was also the Western region of Bashan, named after its chief town. The Greeks called it Gaulanitis.  The tribe of Manasseh was to live here in Bashan.

  •  The Golan Heights is a  plateau bordered by the Yarmouk River in the south, the Sea of Galilee and Hula Valley in the west,  Mount Hermon in the north, and Wadi Raqqad in the east. The western two-thirds of this region are currently occupied by Israel, whereas the eastern third is controlled by Syria.  They are 15 miles or 24 km  wide.  The Golan Heights
  • looks down on the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) with Kibbutz Ein Gev just below and
  • across the lake sits Tiberias.

The Upper Galilee was called Beth-Maachah in the Bible.  It stretched from Mt. Hermon to the Sea of Galilee and was pasture land, sparsely populated.  The Lower Galilee was called Geshur in the Bible and was rich and fertile land until the Arab invasion in the 700s.

The Golan Heights  were, until 1967, under Syrian administration.  Syria had been recognized as a state in 1924 with King Feisal. In 1920, an independent Arab Kingdom of Syria was established under King Faisal of the Hashemite family, who later became the King of Iraq.  However, his rule over Syria ended after only a few months, following the clash between his Syrian Arab forces and regular French forces at the Battle of Maysalun. French troops occupied Syria later that year after the League of Nations put Syria under French mandate.  Palestine was under the British mandate.

Syria, Egypt, Jordan and others attacked Israel in 1967 and Israel won, which doesn't seem to matter to the USA for saying that this land does not belong to them. It was on October 6, 1973--Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar when most all Jews were fasting and praying in their synagogues that Egypt and Syria opened a surprise attack against Israel again!  The equivalent of the total forces of NATO in Europe were mobilized on Israel's borders.  On the Golan Heights, about 180 Israeli tanks faced an onslaught of 1,4000 Syrian tanks.  Then, by October 22nd, the Security Council of the UN adopted Resolution 338 calling for All Parties to the present fighting to cease all firing and terminate all military activity immediately.  The vote came on the day that Israeli forces had cut off and isolated the Egyptian 3rd Army and were in a position to destrooy it.   Mostly Druze had been living in the Golan Heights and Druze are living there today, many being Israeli citizens.  They are safe and happy.

In 1973, about 8,000 Arab Druzes were living on the Golan Heights which is 500 square miles or 1,250 square km.  The status has not changed since June 1967 except that it must remain in Israel's hands.  It's still an Israeli administered area now annexed by Israel.

Druze IDF soldier

"On Sunday,  April 17th, 2016,  the Israeli cabinet held a special meeting on the Golan Heights and Netanyahu opened the meeting with a declaration that “the Golan Heights will always remain under Israeli control."

The Prime Minister also called upon the international community to recognize Israel’s control of the territory."  He has reason to need this area for protection.  Syria had been bombarding kibbutzim along the upper Jordan Valley from the Golan Heights when it was in their hands.  Due to the Six Day War of June 1967, it fell back into Israel's hands once again and the Israeli troops occupied it and subsequently it was extensively populated with Israeli villages and towns.  Its 1985 population was 22,500 including the Druze.

Looking down on the Golan Heights which are
3,000' above the Galilee
Syria had used the Golan Heights, which tower 3,000 feet above the Galilee, to shell the kibbutz farms and villages and these attacks had been growing more frequent in 1965 and 1966.  At the same time, Nasser of Egypt's rhetoric was becoming increasingly more bellicose:  "We shall not enter Palestine with its soil covered in sand", he said on March 8, 1965.  "We shall enter it with its soil saturated in blood!"  He let Israel know of the Arabs' aspirations, which was that they aim for the destruction of the State of Israel.  their immediate aim then was the perfection of Arab military might so that their national aim would be fulfilled, to eradicate Israel.  Israel cannot take any chances today.  The enemy has changed slightly with Egypt and Jordan, but Syria is being taken over by ISIS who also have this pre-1967 goal in mind.  Syria is still full of thousands and thousands of missiles originally planned to be used on Israel.

Syrian guns would fire from the Golan into Israeli farms below, forcing the children living on kibbutzim to sleep in bomb shelters.  Many roads in northern Israel could be crossed only after probing by mine-detection vehicles.  In late 1966 a young child was blown to pieces by a mine while playing football near the Lebanon border.  In some cases, attacks were carried out by Yasir Arafat's Fatah, which Syria allowed to operate from its territory.  Israel protested to the UN but to no avail.  So Israel would hold retaliatory raids after attacks from Syria, which brought about UN condemnation.  Again, Israel complained to the UN in October 1966 and Damascus's Ambassador said-"It is not our duty to stop them but to encourage and strengthen them",

Mt Hermon
As for the Six Day War of 1967, things started popping on May 15, Israel's Independence Day.  Egyptian troops began moving into the Sinai and massing near the Israeli border.  By May 18, Syrian troops were prepared for battle along the Golan Heights up above.  Nasser told the UN Emergency Force to get lost and they did, they withdrew on May 16th.  Secretary-General U Thant complied with the demand without an argument, evidently, so fast that he didn't even bring the matter to the attention of the General Assembly as his predecessor had promised.  UNEF withdrew, and the Arabs chortled with their Voice of the Arabs proclaiming on May 18th that "As of today, there no longer exists an international emergency force to protect Israel.  We shall exercise patience NO MORE.  We shall not complain anymore to the UN about Israel.  The sole method we shall apply against Israel is total war, which will result in the extermination of Zionist existence."  At the time, Hafez Assad was the Syrian Defense Minister.  Israel faced the armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon who were sitting on their border and behind them ready to do battle against Israel stood the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the whole Arab nation.  President Abdur Rahman Aref of Iraq put in his 2 bits saying that "The existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified.  This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948."

Syria Golan Heights
June 9, 1967, Israel moved against Syrian forces on the Golan and by late afternoon, June 10th, Israel was in complete control of the plateau.  They had taken it only after 19 years of provocation from Syria and after unsuccessful efforts to get the international community to act against the aggressors.

Need I repeat?  Israel won the battle  in 6 days, and the only ally they had was HaShem.    The Arabs refused to sign a peace settlement.  Instead, they held a meeting in Khartoum and adopted a formula of 3 NOs.
No peace with Israel.
No negotiations with Israel.
No recognition of Israel

But-Maintain the rights of the Palestinian people in their nation.

In other words, they see Israel as a part of Palestine-the name the Romans gave to the land after winning a 3 year war with Aluf Bar Kochba of Jerusalem.  Facts belie them of the land having been in the Ottoman Empire of Turkey for 400 years, and them losing the War of WWI to the Allies of Europe and the USA and losing their empire's land.  Facts are just ignored about all the nations of the world in the UN voting for Israel to be re-born back in their promised Jewish Homeland-even though it is only 20% of the promise of the mandate of what it was to be.  England, while holding the mandate-broke their promise and had given away 80% of the Jewish Homeland after all the meetings deciding about the land-to Abdullah of Saudi Arabia who needed land to rule so that he too could be a king.  That's how Jordan came to be.

Every time the United States does not back Israel, it's like turning on the green light for Arabs to act out.  Syria may never be trusted by Israel being Assad is still in power under Iran's thumb and with ISIS trying to take over as much as possible.  Is the United States now telling John Kerry to tell Palestinians they can have the Golan Heights, too?  What is Obama thinking?

The USA said that U.S. State Department spokesperson John Kirby, Ass. Sec.  (Not John Kerry)  stressed Monday night that the Obama administration does not consider the Golan Heights to be part of Israel, one day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed they "will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty."This position was maintained by both Democratic and Republican administrations. Those territories are not part of Israel and the status of those territories should be determined through negotiations. The current situation in Syria does not allow this," Kirby continued.

I believe that international lawyers and experts should agree that when a country is attacked and the attackers lose the battle-they lose land. That's the punishment for starting a war like a bunch of mad dogs all attacking Israel at once.   That land has already been annexed to Israel in 1981.  Why would Syria ever get to negotiate now?  It's been 49 years since 1967 already and Syria is barely a state now-being left basically just Damascus so far.  The USA and Kerry-Kirby made a ridiculous statement that only brings harm to Israel.  .

Update: 4/19/16-7am:  Past American Presidents were not being realistic about the Golan Heights anymore than Obama is, but Obama can see the terrible change in Syria today being taken over by ISIS.  In 1981 after Israel annexed the Heights, Ronald Reagan suspended a strategic cooperation agreement.  On another occasion, he held up delivery of fighter planes because of an Israeli raid in Lebanon.  In 1991, George Herbert Walker Bush asked for a delay in considering Israel's request for loan guarantees to help absorb Soviet and Ethiopian Jews because of his disagreement with Israel's settlement policy in Judea and Samaria.  He used intemperate language that inflamed passions and provoked concern in the Jewish community that anti-Semitism would be aroused.  1991 was also the year the UN voted 142 to 2 to condemn Israeli behavior toward Palestinians in the territories taken in 1967.  It denounced Israeli administration of the Golan HEights.  The repeal vote was ruined by the fact that 13 of the 19 Arab countries, including those engaged in negotiations with Israel--Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, voted to retain the resolutions, as did Saudi Arabia.  6, including Egypt-who lobbied against repeal, were absent.  NO Arab country voted for repeal.  The PLO denounced the vote and the US role.  The Arabs voted once again to impugn the very birthright of the Jewish State.  The UN was stacked against Israel.

Update: 4/19/16 7:45am:  Victor Sharpe article in American Thinker:  According to a report dated April 16, 2016 in the sometimes reliable Debka Special Report, “Israel’s top political leaders and military commanders were stunned and shocked last weekend when they found out that US President Barack
Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to support the return of the Golan to Syria.
Update 4/27/16 3:59pm PDT, Wrong decision by UN against Israel over Golan Heights:
UNSC Says Claim of Israeli Golan ‘Null and void’
Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon responded saying, “Holding a meeting on this topic completely ignores the reality in the Middle East."

Obama's Affect on Gilo, Israel and International Law Towards Israel

In selecting our vote for the next president, let's look at our present Obama administration's 2 terms  and what it has stood for as far as Israel is concerned.  Michael Oren's comment has done that:
Quote of the Week:
A street in Gilo, Jerusalem, Israel
Obama has a worldview that would challenge any government in Israel, rightwing or leftwing. His worldview is so foreign to us. For example his intense reluctance to use military force; or his cooperation with international organizations that are always condemning us, like the Human Rights Council; reaching out his hand to the Muslims and Iran; the demand that we freeze all construction even in Jerusalem – even Meretz couldn’t freeze all the construction in Gilo – but that’s what Obama demanded.” - Michael Oren, a former Israeli Ambassador to the US
Prof. Eugene Kontorovich
Michael Oren

I'll put up a spokesman for Israel's rights anytime against Obama's views of international law.  My selection is Professor Eugene Kontorovich, who understands international law completely.  "
A new research article shows that under the universal rules that determine the borders of new states, Israel upon its creation have included the West Bank and Gaza.  Gilo would be considered as in the area of Judea and Samaria-commonly called the West Bank.

Gilo is a large neighborhood in East Jerusalem, which was before 1967, inhabited mostly by Arabs since it was part of Jordan's territory, illegally taken.  After 1967's war, Jerusalem was freed and the barriers were taken down separating East from the rest of the city and was unified.  It's in the SW section of East Jerusalem and is inhabited by about 40,000 Jews, legalized by the 1980 Israeli law. "It is administered as part of the Jerusalem municipality. "
Gilo is located on a hilltop in southwestern East Jerusalem separated from Beit Jala by a deep gorge. The Tunnels Highway to Gush Etzion runs underneath it on the east, and the neighborhood of Har Gilo is visible on the adjacent peak. Beit Safafa and Sharafat are located north of Gilo, while Bethlehem is to the South.  Remember, most places are very close since Israel is only 8,000 sq miles small.   Obama has expected all construction to stop in this 40,000 Jewish community for years and years and years.

Samuel anointing David

Gilo was a big part of our biblical history, found in the Bible.  "The biblical town of Gilo is mentioned in the Book of Joshua (Joshua 15:51) and the Book of Samuel (II Sam 15:12).  Some scholars believe that biblical Gilo was located in the central Hebron Hills, whereas the name of the modern neighborhood was chosen because of its proximity to Beit Jala, possibly a corruption of Gilo.  A city in the southwest part of the hill-country of Judah (Josh. 15:51), Gilo was the birthplace of Ahithophel "the Gilonite" (Josh. 15:51; 2 Sam. 15:12), and the place where he committed suicide (17:23). Gilo has been identified with Kurbet Jala, about 7 miles (11 km) north of Hebron."

Now, what candidate is most likely to continue this policy? Most likely, It's Hillary Clinton, who has been Obama's Secretary of State in his first 4 years.  Then we have Sanders, a Jewish man who is not standing up for Israel.  The only thing I've heard from him are attacks.  It's ironic that here is a chance for Jews in America to have a Jewish president and he has blown it by not really saying a thing good about Israel.  Our Christian presidential hopefuls have been much more vocal about their support, such as Cruz and Rubio, Republicans. Trump wants a chance to sit down with the Jews and Palestinians to bring about peace.  After all, he wrote the book on the Deal.  He's a deal maker.  My hope is that he would learn of Israel's special needs for safety-first before he makes any deals.  The Obama administration has wanted deals that did not take this into consideration, expecting Israel to go back to the 67 lines, or the 49 lines.  They had a big bru-ha-ha over this which evolved to be seen on live TV. where Netanyahu had to give Obama quite a lecture about why this wasn't a good idea for Israel.

"The Arabs have wanted to destroy Israel's heartland.  That's why they have not made peace for the 67 years of Israel's existence.  If Israel had a willing partner in the Palestine Authority who also said they wanted peace, how perfect that would be.  Yet they bombed southern Israel again and again.  They would have their break, rested up, probably dug some more tunnels, and here  went the bombing again.  Sderot and Ashkelon suffered the most.

Now we have the horrid agreement with Iran, a country who has said loud and clear that they are the power holders and want very badly to destroy Israel.

Obama's affect on people who support Israel has been very distressing.  We have watched for 8 whole years the acts of this president that shows he has given preference to the Muslims more than to the 6 million Jews that are citizens of Israel.  He has not been even handed, running on CHANGE.  Little did Jews of the USA realize what this change was-certainly far more than swaying away from the Republican Bush administration.  Now, we are watching and weighing the details in trying to decide who will be a good partner for Israel.  Actions still speak loud and clear, more than political promises.

SodaStream In the BDS Battle That USA and EU Are Part Of Against Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
SodaStream Plant in Judea-Samaria employed Arabs to manufacture this contained that allows people to make their own carbonated beverages in their homes, but has now moved mostly due to the  Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which seeks to hurt Israel’s economy over its policies toward the Palestinians, a people who do the bidding of Arab leaders to destroy Israel.

BDS is tightening the noose around Israel's neck with the EU's demands that  goods coming from Israeli companies in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and Gaza to not be labeled as having been produced in Israel.

The President of the USA, Barak Hussein Obama, followed the leaders and put out a memorandum from the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection Bureau that directs the US "trade community" and government partner agencies to explicitly label Israeli-made goods that have been produced in Judea-Samaria.  They evidently are re-labeling anything coming into the United States.  This action came days after a State Department spokesman defended the European Union's impostion of similar labels on Israeli-made goods.

This goes along with the BDS movement against Israel.  The Washington Free Beacon's Adam Kredo broke the story of this intrigue against Israel.  The directive from the Democrat administration said that it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to label goods coming from Israeli companies located in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as having been produced in Israel.  Then the USA is ignoring the fact that Israel won the 1967 Six Day War where all the neighboring Arab states attacked Israel and Israel won, gaining Judea-Samaria back from Jordan's illegal holdings in the first place!  Also Gaza fell into their hands from Egypt losing their fight against Israel in the same move.  To Israel, the land is again theirs.  Just what does the USA and the EU think would have happened to Israel had they NOT won?  Now, I wonder just who were they backing?

One man in our senate is fighting this.  Senator Tom Cotton introduced S.2474, a bill that would override the customs bureau's January 23 guidance by authorizing Israeli businesses to use any of an array of labeling options---including, "MADE IN ISRAEL."

Back in October 6 to 25, 1973, Israel was involved in the Yom Kippur War when Arab nations attacked on the most holy day of the Jews, Yom Kippur.  It's also the year the staff of the Division of Information, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem, put out their booklet of Facts About Israel.  In this booklet,  are the facts taken about manufacturing in Judaea and Samaria.  At that time, it consisted mainly of the small crafts workshop type, employing 3 or 4 workers.  The foodstuffs industry accounts for about 2/3 of sales and employs 1/4 of all the industrial workers.  1967 was the important Six Day War where the odds that Israel would win was nil, and they won! It's when Judea, Samaria and Gaza came into Israeli hands.   Between 1968 and 1970/71, industrial sales, excluding olive oil, went up from 61 million shekels to 95 million shekels, and sales of oil went up from 17 million to 35 million shekels.

The number of factory workers rose from 13,000 in 1968 to 16,000-18% of all regional employed---in 1971.  A certain amount of work is subcontracted by Israeli producers to local enterprises, and many local plants are entering into partnership with Israeli enterprises, particularly in ready-made clothing and carpentry.

The Military Government encourages the progress and enlargement of plants and makes long-term, low-interest advances to that end.

Industrial development lags in the Gaza Strip and North Sinai.  There are no large or modern factories there.  The clothing branch has some 360 enterprises and can be credited with 17% of industrial sales, employ8ng 22% of all industrial workers.

In Gaza, expansion is evident in the clothing, footwear, wood and furniture branches.  In 1968/69, industrial sales rose from 11 million shekels to 13 million, and the number of workers from 5,400 to 6,000 which is 14% of all regional employment.  Subcontracting for Israeli manufacturers plays an important role in this expansion.

An industrial zone is going up at the northern point of the Gaza Strip, and premises in it will be leased to local and Israeli enterprises.

Of course, we all know that Gaza produced nothing of late other than bombs to use on Israel and tunnels in which to bring in goods not allowed because they can be used to make bombs.   Gazans were getting rich on controlling these tunnels.  Egypt has been helpful in helping to destroy them from their end.  Gaza has gone to Hamas rule since June 2007, which is a terrorist group.

Sodastream set up a factory in Judea-Samaria and closed it as of October 29, 2014.  This was an Israeli carbonated soda drink company  that employed Arabs.  Their sales fell 9%..  "Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson, said it would relocate the factory by the end of 2015.  She was their representative. SodaStream said that the closure of its largest plant would save $9 million (seven million euros) in production costs.

Its turnover was put at $125.9 million in the third quarter, down 9% from 2013.
"We are launching a comprehensive growth plan to put the firm back on track," Birnbaum said.
SodaStream employs more than 2,000 people at more than 20 sites in Australia, China, Germany and South Africa, as well as in Israel.

New factory for SodaStream in Rahat, Israel in the Negev.  They said they would take in 1,000 Syrian refugees and they could work here.
In 2012, they said they were building a new factory in the Negev of southern Israel.  No doubt the BDS affected their decision.  This ends employment for the Arabs in Judea-Samaria.  Let Israel try to do a good thing for the Arabs and people who have interfered with life in Israel  such as BDS end it all.

Scarlett Johanssen was not sorry about being SodaStream's ambassador.  She said nothing was wrong with Israel having a factory there employing Arabs.  The terrible thing is that BDS has caused the factory to shut down and now this has left all the workers destitute.  There is no other job for them.

Netanyahu Versus Obama: Two Opposing Ideologies Presented by Frontline

Nadene Goldfoot

Last night I watched Frontline's 2 hour Presentation of Netanyahu At War on PBS.  They did a marvelous presentation of just how different these 2 men were, coming from such different backgrounds and ideologies.  I counted about 21 different speakers who told segments of the information about both of them. There were things spoken of that I wasn't aware of, things that had happened behind the scenes involving some of the treatment towards Netanyahu by Obama. It had been worse than even I knew about.  One thing that caught Netanyahu's eye right away when he first heard of Obama was his name:  Barack Hussein Obama II.

Netanyahu "Bibi" as IDF soldier of Israel
All young men of Israel serve in the army unless receiving religious excuse of study in Yeshiva, and even this is changing

Eyal Arad brought out the fact that Netanyahu understands the position he is in as the leader of the Jewish people of Israel and that his job is to save these Jewish people.  He thought Netanyahu sees himself in a Churchill-like position who had to stop the Nazis from destroying England.  David Axelrod thought Netanyahu had acted audaciously.  I see Netanyahu acting in the same way I hope I would act; doing everything to preserve the lives of 6 million Jews today against a very unfeeling and uncaring world population.
Netanyahu's father, BenZion Netanyahu-historian
We learn that Netanyahu's father was a historian and passed on this love of our Jewish history to his 3 sons and gave them all the expectation that they were to do all they could to help their people.  This has caused them to be quite pessimistic as to their fate, except of course with the coming of the messiah in finally bringing us peace.  That's exactly the position I also share with him.  You can't help but read and learn our history from pre-biblical to biblical days and on through the next 2,000 years up to today without coming to such conclusions.  There are no rose-colored glasses on Netanyahu's nose.  He must be careful of each step in his decisions or it can mean the end of his country.  We live in a very hostile world.

Obama and Netanyahu-different lifestyles
The prime minister was a soldier in 2 of Israel's wars already and has lost his oldest brother to war.  He knows first hand what life presents to Israel.  He's living in it.  Aaron David Miller spoke of Netanyahu being on the IDF team confronting the Sabena plane that was high-jacked by the Arab Black September terrorists that was headed for Israel.  They were to rescue those on board.

Obama comes to us in a different vein.  His father was a Muslim and he has many family members who are Muslims.  He sat in his church for over 20 years listening to a preacher damn Jews and Israel.  Surely we are seeing the consequences.  He has been "hell-bent setting up a Palestine state".  Speaker Zachi said he blames Israel for not seeing this happen.  He said Obama's soul is too cold to be connected to Israel.  Yet Obama told someone that he was the most Jewish president that has ever been in the White House.  I don't know how he ever sees himself standing in Jewish shoes.  He's the farthest of all people.  I believe it shows that he doesn't understand our position at all.  He never knew many Jews living in Hawaii and the people he has met have been very leftist American Jews, in quite a different position than Israeli Jews.!

Netanyahu has taken every step these past 8 years trying to change Obama's positions towards Israel.  From speaking at the UN to speaking to the Senators in the USA, he has taken the chance of telling them like it is, just like prophets of old.  To not speak out would be to pound nails in all their coffins.  He was not worried about what it would do to his political life, but that of his people.

What shocked him was Obama deciding Israel had to go back to the 67 lines-and never bothered to speak to him before he went on live TV to announce this, like a little emperor if you ask me.  This was a traumatic shock for Netanyahu, and brought out the historian in him to lecture him on TV as to why this would not be possible!  It caused Obama to fume.  Obama's idealism was not matching reality on the ground.  These 2 men were now showing how they were coming from opposing corners of the ring, and the gloves were on.  Rom Emanuel counseled Obama that he had to push Netanyahu to get what he wanted.  Obama was trying to win over the Arabs from the first day in office by distancing himself from Israel.  He then demanded that Netanyahu stop building and expected a settlement freeze.  All this made Netanyahu feel like he had walked into a trap.  This was the USA who had stood by Israel in the past?  Not this time.

Dennis Ross brought up that Obama had the chutzpa to tell Mubarak of Egypt to leave!  This was the start of the Arab Spring.  Obama had brought up the 1967 lines publically.  This had caused Netanyahu to hold an emergency meeting and spoke to Hillary about this decision of his, for he hadn't spoken to him, the Prime Minister!  It was an ambush against Netanyahu and was causing him to be weakened in his negotiating position.  Netanyahu was absolutely furious.  This was a war line, not a peace line.  This line meant nothing to Obama, not being a soldier or an Israeli.  By not discussing it first, it was an affront to Netanyahu, one of many to come.  This is why Obama got the lecture from Netanyahu who said he would not negotiate with Hamas terrorists.

Ronen Bergman, speaker, said that Obama did not mince his words.  His anger was no secret to those around him towards Netanyahu and Israel.  He was livid!  This was an attack on his legacy, being more interested in himself and how he was seen than the position he had put Netanyahu and Israel into.  Obama was a friend of the Muslim world.  He was furious and felt humiliated as he was in the middle of secret negotiations with Iran about nuclear power at the time.

Netanyahu realized that Obama and the Arab states were out to get Israel.  It was his gestalt.  This hurt, being he had spent his formative years in the USA with his family and was a MIT graduate. He had been the Ambassador to the UN at age 34.  He had far more experience defending Israel than Obama had as Senator and President and being aware of Middle Eastern situations.    It was in 1980 that he had returned to Israel, the year I made aliyah there.
Rabin, Clinton and Arafat-the Oslo Accord Handshake-NO KISS
Rabin was PM from July 13, 1992-November 4, 1995

Peres-PM Nov 22, 1995-
June 18, 1996

Rabin
Saab Erekat spoke of the Oslo Accords.  This was when President Clinton was the organizer and got Palestinian terrorist Arafat together with Prime Minister Rabin.  Rabin was shook up at the thought of having to shake this terrorists hands in peace negotiations.  He was not from the same political party Netanyahu was from-but from Labor, a leftist party, but he gave the warning that he refused to accept any kissing from Arafat!  That he was adamant about, because Arafat was known to kiss.  Martin Indyk told of the opposition coming from Israel towards the Oslo Accords as it may mean a division of Jerusalem, something the Palestinians were calling for.  Those opposers felt Rabin was betraying them, and of course he was assassinated by an extreme religious righter.  Chem Shaley mentioned that Jerusalem was not to be divided.  This was on the line. Netanyahu was blamed for inciting the crowds because he did nothing to end their frenzy.  Well, he certainly must have felt the same angst they did.  How could he?  He wasn't that jaded to see where it could lead.  This caused Clinton to back Peres as Prime Minister in the next election.  Just at the curtain was ready to come down on this scene, the Palestinians, as if on cue, attacked # 18 bus in Israel by bombing it because they wanted to stop the process of peace of the Oslo Accords.
Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu PM (June 18, 1996-July 6, 1999)
(March 31, 2009-Present)
At Camp David
Ehud Barak, PM from July 6, 1999-March 7, 2001
This was exactly what Netanyahu had warned the world about and was trying to explain-that the Palestinians were not interested in peace-only wanted a piece of Israel, in fact all of it.  4 more bombs exploded killing 59 people.  "THIS PEACE IS KILLING US!"  LIKUD WAS RIGHT, was the message of the day.  Oslo went ahead and pictures were taken with Netanyahu and Arafat shaking hands.  He lost to Barak and Palestinians went violent once again.  American Jews still thought peace was possible in such an environment.
During a rare good moment

George Mitchell said that Obama had turned to him for help with getting Israel to go along with what he wanted.  Obama was seen by Netanyahu as an adversary who was continuing to please the Arabs.  He was trying to show he could get in touch with Israel, but was floundering.  Michael Oren explained that Obama was siding with the Palestinians and had told other countries that the Palestinian position was INTOLERABLE by not having their own state on their terms.  He told Egypt in the Cairo speech that Israel must stop, so had gone against Israel in the first part of his presidency, setting the tone towards this tiny state early on with their enemies.  He went against Israel and insulted Israel.  He spoke in all the Muslim countries then but refused to stop in Israel and talk to Netanyahu.  Now, he and his handlers feel they made a mistake by this avoidance.

Diana Buttu, former spokesperson for PLO, Arab lawyer from Canada,   said she had Muslim members in her family.  She wanted all monies going to Israel from the USA stopped if Israel wanted peace, I guess peace on Obama's terms, that is.    She was all against any building going on by Israel in land they had won from the 67 war.
Netanyahu warning UN of Iran's Nuclear Plans
Tzipi Livni, former foreign minister of Israel,  was concerned and in the peace talks about nuclear weapons with Iran.  Ronen Bergman brought up that in 2012 it was possible for Israel to attack Iran's nuclear site and put an end to their building a weapon to use against Israel. Evidently Israel was prepared to take such an undertaking but didn't want to go it alone.   Dan Ephrom brought up that at the UN, Obama would not remain in the same room with Netanyahu.  I remember his Secretary of State walked out when he spoke-having a more important luncheon date, then, and Obama was absent.

Netanyahu Speaking to Senators
During Obama's 2nd run for president, Netanyahu backed Romney, a Republican.  Obama wanted to talk with Iran and held secret negotiations that Israeli Intelligence found out about.  Did Obama really think he could keep such a thing a secret from him?  As it wound up, the USA gave in to all the demands and gave concession after concession to the Iranians.  Netanyahu felt betrayed and was highly alarmed.  When he spoke to Obama over the phone about it, Obama then told him that military options are now off the table, and that the only option he considered were these talks.  That's why Netanyahu  felt he had to go to the USA Senate  and try to stop this.  The "good" Democrats all walked out of the Senate when he came to speak.  Of course they did.

Now, North Korea has just tested an H Bomb.  Remember that they were in cahoots with Iran for years when Iran was creating their nuclear site and plans to destroy Israel.  We know this because they have so often threatened Israel with doing it.
Aluf Bar Kokhba fighting Romans 132-135 for Jerusalem; killed in battle
Rashi, Biblical Commentator in Troyes, France1040

We have the Christian Presybyterians backing BDS against Israel and now confronted with the word "Israel with negative feelings."  They are making a distinction between Biblical Israelites and today's Israelis as not being the same.  I'd like to say something about this.  We may not believe in the reincarnation of a person such as Aluf Bar Kokhba suddenly appearing amid us today, but many Jews do believe in reincarnation and feel we have had many past lives, sort of like what Hindus of India believe.  We are carrying segments of 23 chromosomes of past people in our bodies, however.  More and more Jews are testing their DNA and finding out about their ancestors, such as myself.  I go back to Rabbi Samson Wertheimer,  1658-1724.  He in turn had a genealogy tracing his ancestors back to the famous biblical commentator, RASHI and Rashi was able to trace his line to King David.  So we're not the same Jews?  No, but we carry a lot of common genes from them.   Israeli Jews have the same feelings as their Biblical ancestors. It seems they still have the same problems as well.  The question is, "who are you?"  I know who Netanyahu comes from and who he is.  He is a Jew who has put his life on the line for Israel and still does.
Never have we ever seen any 2 leaders as different as can be.  One acting for the Palestinians and one for the Israeli Jews.  One living in luxury in Washington DC and one living in dangerous Israel.  One brought up in Indonesia and Hawaii and one having fought in 2 wars as part of Israel's IDF.
