Governor from Ohio, John R. Kasich didn't get a chance to respond much in last night's debate about Israel when asked. That was a subject he seemed to dodge as he went onto some other subject instead. That bothered me.
He's been governor of Ohio since 2010 and reelected again in 2014. However, he filed to run for president of the USA on July 21, 2015, so he has higher aspirations. Undoubtedly, he has done a marvelous job as governor. I like his demeanor.
"Gov. John Kasich of Ohio is reported to have proposed freezing U.S. military aid to Israel while he was serving on the House Budget Committee, a recommendation that would make him an outlier in the 2016 Republican primary field." That means he differed from the general consensus of others in his group, and certainly from mine.
"Israel receives around $3 billion in military aid each year, much of which is used to purchase U.S.-made defense equipment. American foreign assistance to all countries makes up about 1 percent of the U.S. federal budget annually."
Now that tells me right away he doesn't have the knowledge or background of information that I have, and this is most disappointing, as I see that Rubio and Cruz share my enthusiam in backing Israel. I notice that Rubio is a Catholic, but that doesn't stop him from supporting highly Israel, and Kasich is also Catholic, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Yet, "Kasich’s website describes him as “a consistent supporter of American efforts to support Israel’s military, including support through the annual Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill.” What our contenders say is not always how what they have done, though after being in Congress for 18 years, he had a pretty good record in regards to Israel but not in this area. Kasich is most interested in cutting expenses to everything. This is why he was "in 1993, the ranking Republican member of the House Budget Committee." It would have been better had he understood the DIRE need for Israel to be supported by the USA in this aid, in that it was a matter of life and death for Israel in their situation.
He did support Netanyahu when he spoke to the Congress. BUT-"Some of Kasich’s budget cut proposals as governor of Ohio have generated criticism as well. Shortly after he took office in 2011, his administration said that it would close its trade office in Israel, which encourages commerce between Israel and Ohio. Evidently, Israel is not a special concern in his book like it is in mine.
Then again, he has SAID some marvelous things about Israel. "

Being the USA is going to be at least $ 21 Trillion Dollars in the hole in a few years, $19+ Trillion right now, guess what Kashich would do to Israel? He'll cut their military aid just when they are surrounded by ISIS and the usual terrorists of the area and will need it the most. Just how will he show his "very strong and emotional support for Israel" and will help to save lives?
Just as Israel needed more supplies, Obama cut their military aid. I don't want to see a recurrence of that.
It was " in the same week that the Israel Defense Forces, the IDF, intercepted a Gaza-bound shipment of Syrian missiles from Iran, that President Obama asked Congress to reduce US funding for Israel's missile defense programs by $200 million, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
"Hidden away in the budget just sent to Congress by the Obama Administration is a proposal to cut military aid to Israel."
The budget states that the US could save billions of dollars by reducing aid to the Jewish State that could then be used on... the Joint Strike Fighter. "
Considering the fact that Israel is on Iran's list of firsts to exterminate with their coming atomic energy arms, this time in history, thanks to the inexcusable deal that Kerry made, is not a time to cut Israel's defense situation unless they for some reason or other ask that that to happen. Iran can accomplish that goal through Lebanon, Syria, or Iraq being they are closer and Iran has connections with the terrorists that they supply.
