Palestinians Want Jerusalem's Very Jewish Western Wall: Working on UNESCO

Nadene Goldfoot

The Palestinians are now trying to say that Jews have no history to the Western Wall aka Wailing Wall in Jerusalem where Jews go to pray.  They have a lot of Arab support in the UN and are presenting their own version of the history of Jerusalem.  They recognize only the Islamic connection to the Holy City, City of David, Jerusalem.

View of Western Wall lower right and above is Temple Mount with Mosque in Center
These Arabs are trying to make out that the Western Wall is part of Islam's al-Aqsa Mosque.  To do this, they have presented a terrible resolution, showing they know nothing about history pre-Islam's Mohammed.  "The proposal is contained in a draft resolution to the executive board of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The agency formally designates cultural treasures around the world."  The Palestinians got 6 states behind this proposal;  "Algeria, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates."  I am truly surprised at Egypt for doing this since they are at peace with Israel.  This is a terrible thing to propose to a friend.  I suppose we should claim the pyramids  in Egypt being Jewish slaves built them, then, and a few cities.

Here are some facts they are repressing in everyone's minds that they administer.

. After 400 years of slavery in Egypt, Moses came along in 1351 BCE and took the Israelites out of bondage and headed for their old home in Canaan.  After 40 years of wandering,  they arrived in 1271BCE when Moses died and was buried outside the land and then Joshua took over.

Joshua, fighting to possess Canaan
The 12 tribes of Jacob, aka Israel, were told where to settle using Moses's plan, administered by Joshua.  650,000 had started on the Exodus.
The 1st census taken showed 603,550 people
The 2nd census taken showed 601,730 people  with a loss of 1,820 from the  40 year march.

Joshua, Judge of Israel
The people were first ruled by Judges, YehoshuaJoshua of the tribe of Ephriam, in about 1270 BCE  being the first. He was followed by 15 more;   Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah and Barak, Gideon, Abimelech, Tola, and Jair.
Deborah, a Judge
Then they had the Ammonite rule of Jephitah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, Samson, Eli and Samuel, all Jewish judges.

King Saul died fighting the Philistines and so did his 3 sons.
The people saw that their neighbors had kings, so clamoured and insisted on being governed by one, also.  Saul was chosen as the first king in the 1000s BCE, son of Kish of the tribe of Benjamin.  The Israelites were in danger militarily from the Philistines and Ammonites.  Samuel, a judge and prophet, had chosen Saul.  They had a victory and defended themselves against the Philistine danger and fought off the Moabites, Ammonites, and Arameans.

The next king was David who ruled from 1010 BCE to 970 BCE.  He was the youngest son of Jesse of the tribe of Judah, and was born in Bethlehem.  He had been Saul's armor-bearer and became Saul's son in law by marrying his daughter, Michal.

David's son, Solomon was the next king from 961-920 BCE and his mother was Bathsheba.  Politically, Solomon was called the King of Peace and was able to build the 1st Temple.  He had 1,000 wives and concubines.  Solomon was able to rest due to his father's achievements to protect the realm which extended from Egypt to the Euphrates and was the most energetic in the entire region.  Less war meant they were able to develop in the cultural sphere of the arts of historiograph, parables, and elegant writing developed as well as several biblical works such as Song of Songs, Ecclesiates, Psalm 72.  Solomon was widely known for his wisdom.  Who hasn't heard the story of how he decided between 2 women as to who a baby belonged?  He used psychology.

When Solomon died in 920 BCE, the southern half of Israel broke off to create Judah from which Jews take their name.  They kept Jerusalem as their capital while Israel took Samaria.  Israel chose an Ephraimite to be king, Jeroboam, while Judah had as king a son of King Solomon, Rehoboam.  Both started serving in 933 BCE.

Israelites being led away by Assyrians.  Israel lost territory of land east of Jordan River, Galilee, and Philistia, Tyre, Moab and Edom became Assyrian provinces.  Shalmaneser took Samaria and Sargon captured it in 721 BCE
Assyria attacked Israel in 722-721 BCE and led Israelites into captivity.  Hoshea was the king at the time, and his reign ended in 721 BCE.

Sargon annexed the country, and deported 27,290 Israelites to Assyria and Media.  He replaced them with Syrian and Babylonian prisoners.

He was the last king of Israel which had lasted from 1271 BCE with the take-over of the land as dictated to do by G-d to 721 BCE, a total of  550 years.  Remember that the USA is only 239 years old.  If we even counted from 1620 when the first pilgrim ship, the Mayflower landed, it would only be 395 years of being on the North American land.
Nebuchadnezzar
As for Judah,  they were able to have another 124 years of happiness before the Babylonians with their king Nebuchadnezzar came along in 597 BCE and also carted away Jews into captivity.  They did more damage in 586 BCE by repeating their actions.  .Judah's last king was Zedekiah whose reign ended in 586 BCE.  Counting Israel's days of which Judah was part of and adding on these 124 more years, this gives the Judeans or Jews,  the land lasting 674 years of continuance- but not ending the time Jews live here.  That has been going on with a smaller Jewish population that has been under many countries' powers, but hasn't turned into another county such as Palestine.

Working on Temple in Jerusalem after destruction
The Temple was rebuilt and called the 2nd Temple from 538 to 515 BCE.

General Bar Kokhba; Bar Kosiba Simeon, nephew of Rabbi Eleazar of Modiin, descendant of King David
Palestine was simply the name of the land that the Romans gave it after fighting against the Jewish General Bar Kokhba for 3 years from 132 to 135 CE, the longest battle they had had.  They were so angry about it that they referred to the land from then on by the name of Palaestina, denoting the land of the Jewish enemy, the Philistines. Herodatus as called it Palaistine, and Palestine was the name the Ottoman Empire referred it as for 400 years, ending their hold when they lost WWI in 1917 as their entire empire was lost except Turkey.

However, the tribe of Judah, the largest of the 12 tribes,  was filled in with the tribe of Benjamin, and they all were able to live and continue on the land.  The Romans came along and occupied the land in 63 BCE.  They put in their choice of  leaders from the Jewish population, and Herod was chosen as king.

70 CE, destruction of 2nd Temple and Jerusalem, scattering of Jews who were kept out by Romans
The Romans destroyed Jerusalem and burned the 2nd Temple down in 70 CE, 133 terrible years after entering.  They had ruled with an iron hand, hanging thousands of Jews on crosses for minor infringements of their power and rule, including the Christian leader, Jesus.
Assigned areas where 12 tribes of Jacob (Israel) lived in Eretz Yisrael

Eretz Yisrael, The Jewish Homeland  itself, had been the home of the Jewish people from the time of Joshua entering in 1271 BCE till 70 CE, a total of 1,291 years, and the Palestinians are trying to say that we have no historical claim on the Western Wall, a wall attached to the Temple Mount.

2nd Temple of Solomon
The Western Wall/ Wailing Wall, or Kotel Maaravi, is part of the wall that was around Herod's Temple which was still standing in the Old City of Jerusalem so near the 2nd Temple, built  by the returnees from Babylon from  538 to 515 BCE, 23 years of rebuilding .

The 5 lower courses, each over 3 feet high, date back from the time of King Herod (ruled from 73 BCE to 4 BCE), son of an Idumean father named Antipater  and a Nabatean mother named Cypros, and appointed by the Roman Senate.  The Romans allowed him to handle internal affairs but not foreign policy.

Herod
The wall continues over 60 feet underground.  He had rebuilt  the Temple in Jerusalem on a magnificent scale and erected the 2 new cities of Sebaste and Caesarea.

Where Jews go first in Jerusalem; to the Wall
However, he was not a beloved king by the Jewish people.  The Jews were still attached to their former Hasmonean rulers that had been ousted.  Taxation was most heavy because of Herod's extravagance and because of Mark Antony demanding large sums from his protege.  Herod was known to murder his rivals  and even had his own wife, Mariamne, murdered along with their 2 sons, Alexander and Aristobulus and his firstborn, Antipater. He had learned well from the Romans.

Because it is close to the Temple Mount which holds the Jewish Holy of Holies of the 2nd Temple, this part of the wall was regarded as sacred as far back as the Talmudic Period.  Since the 10th century, regular services were held before it.  As the area in front of the Western Wall was Moslem property, a serious dispute broke out between Jews and Moslem in 1929, when the British were holding the mandate for Palestine.  Rioting broke out and Moslems were killing Jews.

Then in 1931, a special commission of the League of Nations regulated the rights of the parties.  From 1948, Jews were cut off from the Western Wall, which was under Jordanian control since their King Abdullah confiscated 80% of the Jewish Homeland and England allowed it to happen.  This happened despite a paragraph in the Israel-Jordan 1949 Armistice Agreement affirming Jewish right of access.

From 1948, Jews could not visit their wall until they had won the 1967 Six Day War.  Jordan had teamed up with other Arab countries against little Israel so lost that section of Jerusalem.

1967-Dancing in front of Western Wall in joy
The Wall has been since then under Jewish sovereignty for the 1st time since the 2nd Temple Period.  On Shavuot 1967, the 1st day the Wall could be visited by the public, 200,000 people went there, and since then is a focal point for Jews from all over the world to visit and pray.  Finally, East Jerusalem, the part Jordan had held till the 1967 War, was reunified in June 1967 with West Jerusalem.  They are now under one mayor.

As for any Islamic connection the Arabs have to East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, this is what happened.  During the siege of Jerusalem during the Roman war, the 2nd Temple served as a center of military activity, and was destroyed by the conquering Romans in 70 CE.  A Roman Temple was later built on the site over it..  Since Mohammad died in 632 CE and his men spread out to conquer the world and spread Islam, a mosque, al Harim ash -Sherif,  has stood there where the 2nd Temple had stood and was built by Caliph Abd al-Malik around the year 738 CE to replace the temporary structure set up by Caliph Omar a century earlier, called  the Mosque of Omar/Dome of the Rock.. Supposedly Mohammad flew there on his flying horse before he died to see the mosque.   Omar was the 2nd caliph and ruled from 634 to 644.  It was during his reign that Palestine and Syria were conquered, and also Mesopotamia.  On his orders, most of the Jews were expelled from northern Arabia.  That's it.  That is the Islamic connection to Jerusalem's Temple Mount.  That's why Moshe Dayan was nice enough to let the Jordanian religious leader have dominion over their mosque site.

Disclosed August Plot on Joseph's Tomb Unveils Hatred for Jews

Nadene Goldfoot
Joseph's Tomb, 1839 oil  painting by Scotsman David Roberts

Hatred for Jews is total;  hatred for Israelis is secondary.  So we find out such things from a discovered plot to attack the Jewish holy site of Joseph's Tomb with explosives and machine gun the Jewish worshippers.  This attack was uncovered by Shin Bet before  August 25, 2015 when cleared for publication.  Terror attacks have increased.   Their hatred is so strong that they were willing to destroy this holy site, holy even to Muslims,  in order to kill a few Jewish worshippers.

Joseph, favorite son of Jacob who made him a special coat of many colors causing much jealousy among his 10 brothers.  Joseph was Jacob's 11th son, so was the youngest.  Later Benjamin was born, the 12th.  Both had the same mother; Rachel, beloved by Jacob.  Jacob had 2 wives who were sisters and 2 concubines who had given him sons.
Joseph is not an important person in Islamic history, but is for Pashtuns in Afghanistan,  Pakistan and India who claim descendency from Joseph from being from the 10 Lost Tribes of Israel.  However, "Joseph's tomb has been venerated throughout the ages by Jews,Samaritans, Christians and Muslims."  So if it is so venerated so much by Muslims, why would they want to kill Jews praying there and spill blood?  The attackers intended to kill and to destroy this Jewish holy place.

Joseph, viceroy (representing the pharaoh but  ruling the country of Egypt),  greeting his brothers who had long ago sold him into slavery, who died at age 110.  His body as he requested, was brought home to Shechem for burial.  The story of Joseph is dated back to the 18th to 16th centuries BCE during the Hyksos domination of Egypt. The Hyksos were Semites who overran Egypt after the destruction of  Egypt's Middle Kingdom. They ruled from 1720-1580 BCE when Israelites entered the country and were treated well.  Bondage of Israelites would have happened after the Hyksos were expulsed.  Hyksos, an Egyptian word, means "rulers of the foreign lands."

Nablus, Samaria
Joseph's Tomb is on the outskirts of  Nablus, formerly called Shechem in Hebrew.  Nablus today has become a large Palestinian Arab city in Samaria, the northern part of Judea and Samaria commonly called the West Bank by many.    All of Shechem was said to be the burial site for Joseph and his sons, Ephriam and Manasseh.  Shechem, or Nablus, just happens to be in the land originally called Israel-now called Samaria.  The Biblical patriarchs camped under its walls and "it was pillaged by two of the 12 sons of Jacob; Simeon and Levi when the land was called Canaan.  It then became part of the territory of Ephraim, a levitical city and a city of refuge, as well as the center of the House of Joseph which is why Joseph is buried here."

Abimelech, the Philistine king of Gerar who had made a pact of friendship with Abraham, had tried to establish his kingdom at Shechem, while the northern tribes of Israel had broken away from Rehoboam (933-917 BCE) , 1st king of Judah and son of Solomon by Naamah the Ammonite wife, which had split away  and was the southern half of Israel. The Israelites had  camped there when Jeroboam (933-912) an Ephraimite or from the line of Joseph's son, Ephraim, was crowned king of Israel.

Centuries later, Shechem was populated by Samaritans, who were a mixed people made up of Israelites descended from the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh and Cutheans brought in from Assyria, and it remained the cult center of the Samaritans.  The religion of Judaism changed with them and stayed as a primitive form of Judaism except that the whole Bible of the Samaritans is only the Pentateuch, a pre-Masoretic text with Samaritan variants, changing the original places, making Mt. Gerizim the place Moses received the 10 Commandments, etc.

Nearby, Neapolis was founded by Vespasian (69-79 CE), a Roman Emperor,  which became today's modern Nablus.  The Samaritans living there were living in an important Roman city, governed by Rome.  In 1967 Nablus had 44,000 people including a tiny Samaritan community amid Muslims.  For decades it has been a center of fanatical Arab nationalism.  The small Jewish community that was there has been given over to the Muslims living in Samaria.

Inside Joseph's Tomb
Joseph's Tomb is a Jewish holy site where Jews come to pray.  They couldn't come until after the 1967 War which Israel won because the land of Samaria had been in Jordan's hands and they wouldn't allow Jews to come and pray there.  The Palestinian Authority have their own PA police in charge of keeping the peace.  They didn't do their job in uncovering the plot.  It was the Israeli security forces who did.  The PA has no record of arresting any terrorists.  In fact, they shelter them.  Remember how the Israelis had to go from house to house in Palestinian territory looking for the killer or killers of the 3 students who had been killed when their Yeshiva was finished for the day?

The Israeli security forces, Shin Bet,  arrested 4 terrorists belonging to a cell.  One was Muhamad Damiri, a Palestinian policeman!  Another was Nisim Damiri, an old time member of Tanzim, the armed wing of Fatah.  Of course, we all know that Fatah is headed still by 80 year old Mahmoud Abbas, known to the West as the moderate Arab and the PA's president.  It is only Hamas, the break-off group of Fatah who are labeled by the USA as terrorists.  Also arrested were Yasir Zarukri, Hamas terrorist, and Aduen Nazei, Islamic Jihad terrorist.  It looks like these 4 representatives worked together for a change when the goal was to kill Jews and destroy their holy sites.  They were part of an Islamic Jihad cell run by Mohammed Darwish.

Yasser Arafat, and PMs Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres with Nobel Peace Prize received after accepting Oslo Accords
The 1993 Oslo Accords are over and thus so are the standards set.  We know this because:
1. The Oslo Accords required the PA to apprehend and imprison terrorists.
2. They were obligated to disarm and outlaw terrorist groups.
3. They were to extradite terrorists to Israel.

They haven't done these things and Western nations have not cared as long as it did not affect themselves. Kerry has kept on pounding for a Palestinian state to be created knowing they act according to their own wishes.  .   I bet he'd change his tune if he lived in Israel.

The Peace process is coming up again in conversation with John Kerry bustling himself to Israel at a time of when the Arabs are  going berserk in Jerusalem and trying to knife unsuspecting Jews on the streets and in buses.

Palestine was promised by Balfour Doctrine (November 2, 1917) to Chaim Weizmann from British foreign secretary Arthur James Balfour for the British Government  to become the Jewish Homeland.  Israel is made of 20% of this land.  80% went to Abdullah who was made King of Transjordan-Jordan.
A peace process  is based on the notion that if Israel surrenders any part of the 20% of their land-what was left for for the Jews to become Israel-to the PA, the PA can be trusted to prevent terrorism from that area.

A Palestinian state must be peaceful and its rulers would combat terrorism.  20 years of PA self-rule has proven otherwise.  Now look at what they are doing.  They are trying to start a 3rd Intifada with Abbas telling his people to act out and knife Jews, with others inciting that they should also carry guns now.  They won't be getting those from Israel, I assure you.

This attack had nothing to do with "occupied territory."  That wasn't their beef.  It was pure out and out hatred for Jews that they have been taught since swaddled babies in their mother's arms, a brainwashed people.  There are all kinds of agencies in Israel trying to bring peace between the groups and working together, but these 4 must have worked hard to bypass them as all those involved in knifing Jews in Jerusalem and Bethlehem and on buses in Israel the past few weeks.  All the while, the head of PA state have instigated their rebellious acts and killings, calling out for them to do so.  It's reminiscent of the days in 1929 of Haj Amin al-Husseini, Sherif of Jerusalem,  who did the same thing.

When Will Israel's Fight Come to an End With Peace ?

Nadene Goldfoot
Iran's Shahab 3 Missile-long range with 800 to 1,200 mile distance

After 6 fairly peaceful years from 1967's Six Day  major war when 4 Arab countries attacked with 250,000 troops with Soviet tanks and aircraft prepared for a full scaled invasion, 1973's Yom Kippur War surprised everyone and caught them unaware  by starting on Israel's holiest day when the population was in synagogues praying and fasting, causing 2,700 Israeli IDF to be killed in 3 weeks of fighting, thousands injured and almost 300 captured.

Since then, Israel has had to fight  in 6 out of 7  more campaigns:
1. 1st Lebanon War from 1982 to 2000.  I was in Israel from 1980 to the end of 1985 in Safed and saw our soldiers going up into Lebanon. .
2. 1st Palestinian Intifada in Judea-Samaria and Gaza 1987-1991 started by PLO, 27 Israelis killed, 1,400 injured civilians and 1,700 IDF injured; 1,000 Palestinians were killing each other, fighting factions for power

3. During the 1991 Gulf War led by the USA and Coalition, Israel was attacked by Iraqi Scud missiles, but could not respond due to interfering with Coalition and USA's plans.  It brought attack on Israeli soil.  Saddam Hussein, Iraqi dictator, launched 39 Scud ballistic missiles against Haifa, Greater Tel Aviv area, and toward Dimona where Israel has a nuclear reactor.  The missiles caused extensive damage to property but very few people were killed or injured.   Israel was on the receiving end of this war and had to remain passive by not retaliating.

4. 2nd Palestine "Al Aqsa"  Intifada from 2000 to 2006 when suicide bombings and terrorist attacks began leaving over 5 years 1,068 Israelis dead and over 7,000 injured, 69% civilians.  3,000 Palestinians were killed.
5. 2nd Lebanon War of 2006: Hezbollah short 4,000 rockets and missiles into Israeli towns and villages.
6. 1st Campaign against Hamas in Gaza 2009-2010; Hamas repeated attack with rockets and missiles
7. 2nd Campaign against Hamas in Gaza 2012

Syrian Missiles to use against Israel
8?  Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon have 60,000 rockets and missiles of many distant ranges and power.  The Syrian army is being protected by Russia at the moment, but they have a few thousand improved Scud missiles and have threatened Israel.

At the same time the Iranians have some 600 Shahab 3 missiles in their arsenal.  They have also managed to talk the USA and their coalition into allowing them every opportunity now to have atomic weapons to use against Israel from a few months from now to several years.  They will put an atomic warhead on one of these missiles.

Every Israeli city, important site, airbase or military installation is within their range.  . The distance from Iran to Israel is  2,221.3 miles via Route 80, evidently shorter by air which would be 1,109.48 miles.  It only takes 1.98 hours to fly at a speed of 560 mph.   It's like the time it takes to fly from Portland, Oregon to San Francisco, California which costs $186.

Iran's testing of Shahab 3 Missiles
Another war will involve missiles fired from land, sea and air at populated areas.

Israel's anti-missile defense systems will be trying to defend their public.  This will take Israel into cyber warfare from air-conditioned control centers.  The most important asset Israel has to fight with is their very strong military force and superior air force and military intelligence.  Tanks are passe today.  Those won't play a part anymore.

An Israeli medic and policeman enter destroyed bus on Tuesday, October 13 when 2 Palestinian men had boarded and attacked the riders.
Today's beginnings of a 3rd Intifada in Jerusalem shows that Palestinians are not interested in peace or living next to Israel in peace.  They only have one thing in mind; to scare and chase Israel out of the area; to drive them into the sea as originally threatened before 1948.  They have rained down rockets, mortars and missiles onto Southern Israel.  Suicide bombings and murders has been their style throughout the small country.  That all has caused the need for fencing to protect the population.

Most Palestinians are a generation brought up from their mother's angry breast of brain-washing to be against Israel.  They were taught this in their homes and in school.  They know nothing else.  Their minds know nothing about the facts of who they are or where they are.  The USA has never known such an oppositional  population.  This has been a struggle ever since May 14, 1948-67 years 5 months.  It's not just a political problem-it's also a religious problem.  Religions and what their expectations are now have been  butting heads.  The Palestinian religion has not accepted the rights Israel has of being on the land, the legality of the end of the Ottoman Empire in 1917, the legal power of the League of Nations or the United Nations.    When that changes, there will be peace.  Again, religion and politics are interwoven.  What kind of peace talks can take place when their Palestinian religion will not allow this to happen?  Though Egypt and Jordan have made peace, these are the holdouts.

Notice that Iraq, Syria and Lebanon have all but been completely destroyed, taken over by terrorists and now their government is in ruin.  These are all countries that have been enemies of Israel, but it wasn't Israel who destroyed them.  It was their own internal affairs.  Fight against Israel and peace will not come can be the lesson here.  Iran, the last time Persia tried to slaughter all Jews in your empire, the man who started all the hatred was Haman, and he was hung along with his sons.  Carry out your threats of hatred and destruction, and it will backfire on you.

Book:  Letters From Israel by Nadene Goldfoot-describing 1982 Lebanon War when in Safed

Where Religion and Politics Are Interwoven; What's the Difference?

Nadene Goldfoot

The goal of this 4,000 year old religion of Judaism has  been used  to control a population's behavior by laying down standards that improve their morality.  Yet we do not use any policing.  It's up to the individual.   We have the story of Abraham's nephew, Lot, who lived in Sodom, inhabited by people who had no morals at all. If they had a religion, it had nothing to do with their morals.   A mob outside his home  wanted to sodomize the strangers in Lot's house.

We also feel that all will be good when we die and trust in what G-d has in store for us if we have tried to follow the Torah and 10 Commandments.  The orthodox believe in the resurrection of the dead at the end of time.  Judaism places its emphasis on practical religion instead of dogma.  The essence of this religion is the Golden Rule, do not do to others what you do not want done to you.  We do not think about being saved by anyone or thing except by our own actions.  NO one can do that for us.  So when people accuse us of some horrid act that we would not want done to us, we cringe at the idea of people thinking we could do such things.  Leftist thinking has been led by Jews committed to saving the world from itself, and in doing good deeds (mitzvot).  This has happened so often that Jews themselves forget that they also have rights, only recently received-mainly since immigrating to the USA and in Israel.

One can say that G-d will protect us, the people who took the responsibility of all 10 Commandments, but G-d also helps those who help themselves, so we must use our brains and work very hard to stay alive in a hostile world; especially in our neighborhood.  We have the whole world judging our every move while they ignore the serious deadly acts of others.

The morality of the people is part of the service and worship of G-d or the supernatural, a higher power.  It's a commitment or devotion to their religious faith or observance system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices.  Religion is a cause, a principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.  A religion's morality should be an improvement of behavior designed to bring about peace; something good for the people as well as the planet.  Morality evolves with different groups of people.  Human sacrifice has been part of many religious people over the centuries.  Isaac, Abraham's son, was asked by G-d to sacrifice his son, Jacob, but was stopped and thus brought about human sacrifice to an end.  The Incas sacrificed people at a much later date.  Cannibalism has been found in Africa, less than 100 years ago.
USA 1933-1945 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt , where religion and politics are not to mix being the country is made up of many religions and standards.

King Solomon of Israel (961-920 BCE)  The government
must follow the laws of Judaism.

The goal of politics is the art or science of governing.  It is concerned with guiding or influencing governmental policy.  Those involved are concerned with winning and holding control over a government..  It includes the political actions and policies and business.  There is competition between competing interest groups or individuals for power and leadership in a government.  Political activities  are characterized by artful and often dishonest practices.  It includes the total complex of relations between men in society.  Saddam Hussein ruled with an iron hand.  So did the Romans.  Any infringement whatsoever and the Judeans were crucified, left hanging with rotting bodies as a lesson to the people to be subordinate.  .

Hammurabi, an Amorite, King of Babylon 1725-1686 BCE and the sun god, Shamash-god of justice.  Hammurabi is known for the set of laws called Hammurabi's Code, which constitute one of the earliest surviving codes of law in recorded history
Moses came along later in 1391-1271 BCE from tribe of Levi and received the 10 Commandments
Hammurabi stele
The Law Code of King Hammurabi found on a stele is quite similar to the 10 Commandments of Moses.  This stele was found in Shusan, capital of Persia (Iran).  "Shushan, which lies 200 miles east of Babylon, was the capital of ancient Elam (Susiana), and later the winter palace of the Persian kings. It was the scene of many biblical events in the time of Daniel, Nehemiah, Queen Esther and King Ahasuerus (Xerxes).  It's what the king used to govern.  Judaism made improvements on these laws, found to be somewhat similar.

"Both state that stealing would not be tolerated and was looked down upon. Murder was also looked down upon and adultery was a grave offense. These are where the likeness stops."  "Both the Ten Commandments and Hammurabi’s Code served as the bases for criminal justice system in the Hebrew and Babylonian people and set the base line for people to strive to be truthful and do no harm to one another.  "

It looks like many fail to even live up to the Hammurabi Code today let alone the Mosaic Law.

Abraham of 2nd millennium BCE
As I wrote before, religion created the state of Israel in the beginning.  Judaism was depending on its population to be living in a particular area, which was  Canaan.  The Israelites were a group who had already become monotheistic through their originator and father, Abraham, who is also father of the Arabs through his first son,  Ishmael.  Before his revelations of a oneness of G-d, his people had been idol worshippers and his father, Terah,  was an idol maker.  Moses, a child of Israelites, had been brought up as an Egyptian Prince, but was tapped by G-d at age 80 to lead the Israelite slaves out of Egypt and into Canaan to be the future priests of the concepts he was to receive.

1917 French soldiers in Syria when Ottoman Empire and Germany lost the war against the West
All throughout history, countries have been coveting others' land and have killed for it, 2 things listed on the 10 Commandments of what not to do.  So they have thought very little of these 10 Commandments brought by Moses for the world.  The list of  10 are even kept out of public places in the USA as something walking over other religion's rights.  They are not evidently seen as something for all.  Think what the world could have been like if everyone was able to follow all 10 laws.  The first 5 are about man's duties to G-d.  The second 5 are about man responsibilities to his fellow-man.

2015 and bloody ISIS slayers acting like Medieval killers cutting off heads The shock and awe of this group is that they actually attract like people and many join up with them from other countries.  Evidently there are a lot of meshugenas in the world who have no moral conduct.
ISIS is doing it again, coveting Syria and Iraq and the rest of the Middle East.  They want the Levant and then plan on more.  They are acting out their religious beliefs as Salafists are the extreme group of Islamists.

What is Putin acting out of besides coveting more land of Ukraine and Crimea and taking it?  His religion and politics come from atheism which disavows the existence of any higher power to govern our lives. Atheism is the disbelief in the existence of a deity.  It's ungodliness.  They will not even believe in one unseen G-d as we do.  For them there is no higher power.  Things just happen, evidently. They do not question how the universe got here, or rely strictly on scientific interpretation, which leaves some holes in their theory, like the power behind it all that got it started.  They do not need a code or set of laws to know what is right and what is wrong.  For them they go by their instincts.  We hope most people would know instinctively what is right and what is wrong, but then ask the police why they have so many in jails and prisons?  Evidently there are those who either don't know or don't care. A little guidance helps. Children need to be taught.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, -head of government- puppet of Ayatollah who rules the realm.
Neda Agha Soltan, Iranian student killed in Arab Spring Demonstration, a girl just watching.

Ayatollah Khamenei b: July 16, 1939, Supreme Religious leader of Iran-Head of State
"The 1979 Constitution designated the Supreme Leader of Iran as the head of state and the President and Prime Minister as the heads of government. The post of Prime Minister was abolished in 1989."

The Shi'ite religion of the Ayatollah threatens Israel verbally with extinction.  Now their government has finagled methods of which to get their hands on atomic power and threaten that in a few years, Israel will be no more.  They call themselves a people of religion.  What kind of religion is this whose chief motivation in the world it to destroy Israel?  Coveting, killing are but 2 of the 10 commandments they break in this.

In the beginning of the Arab Spring a movement heading towards democratic power, the Iranian government mowed down anyone acting out in the crowd and punished them quickly.  It was like being doused with cold water.  It ended.  They rule with a strong and deadly hand. They do not worry about political correctness in the way Americans do.

1. Many states are Islamic states.  Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Somalia-which is threatening Kenya and Mauritania belong to this group. Palestine, if and when created, will be one.  They have stated that no Jews will be able to live in their state.
2. Islam is the state religion of Bangladesh, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Malaysia, Tunisia, Tajikistan, Libya, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Comoros, Qatar, Brunei and Maldives.

3. Announcing NO religion is Indonesia, Sudan, Syria, Sierra Leone, Lebanon and  Albania.  These are states who are Muslim majority in population. This means the government does not get involved in the religion of the people.
4. Some states are secular such as:  Nigeria, Turkey, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Niger, Burkina, Mali,  Senegal, Guinea, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Chad, Kosovo, The Gambia, Djibouti, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.  All these are of Muslim majority states as well.  Secular means: indifference, or rejection or exclusion of religion and religious consideration.  These governments are saying they do not mix in with religion or use religion in their governmental decisions. Turkey has become more religious with their present president.  A lot depends on what beliefs the leaders have as to how much seeps into the governmental decisions.
The USA is a secular state.  There  is Separation of church and state.

The state religion of Israel is Judaism. It is the ONLY Jewish state in the world.   When Israel was more secular under the last king, King Solomon, and was more involved with other states and such, it divided when Solomon died so that they could follow their own way of governing and the southern part became Judah.  Being a small state to begin with compared to empires, they became vulnerable to the attacking Assyrians and then later the Babylonians.  Today, Jews have become  almost extinct through the Holocaust, down to only 14 million people worldwide-6 million only in Israel, a very tiny country.  The religion, in order to survive, is again thriving in their  Jewish state run with Jewish values and must remain this way.  Don't worry.  Judaism may be 4,000 years old, but it updates constantly and keeps up with the times.  It is not a medieval religion.

It cannot become  another Lebanon where Christians who were the government were overpowered by their Muslim majority population. Today, Israel is 75-80% Jewish and 20-25 % Muslim.
